Part 2 of our Southern Bride Magazine Feature
Last April I was working closely with one of my dear friends Stacy, who is a wedding planner as well, on creating a Southern Styled Shoot. She owns her own wedding planning company, Events by Memory Lane in Raleigh, North Carolina and does a FABULOUS job!! So anyway, our little vision of a lovely southern styled shoot started to blossom. One thing lead to another and before we knew it we had 14 vendors participating in this styled shoot plus four wonderful models.
The only vendor we could not find was a florist. We reached out to everyone we could in the Raleigh area and no one was free to join in with us. Before I really thought about what I was saying I jumped in and said I would create the floral pieces. Yes, I am happy and proud to say that I designed and created the florals for this lovely shoot.
Somedays I’m not sure my brain thinks before I speak, but looking back now, I’m so glad I didn’t think it through. Now to give a little back story, I have done floral work before. I have even taken a few fun classes to learn more about it too. So don’t worry, I was not flying blind for this shoot.
We picked up the flowers here in Pennsylvania before heading to North Carolina and spent the long drive to Raleigh freezing our butts off in the car. We had the AC on full blast so that the car was like a cooler for the flowers. I though we were going to get frostbite!! It was defiantly an adventure for the books.
The night before the shoot, I spent several hours creating the lovely centerpieces, bouquets and boutonnières. There may have been a few glasses of wine and a few Advil consumed in the making of these lovely floral pieces. Backaches and neck pain aside, I am THRILLED with how everything turned out AND even more thrilled for it all to be featured in Southern Bride.
Enjoy a few of the photos. I still won’t post to many so I don’t take Southern Bride’s thunder. Enjoy friends!
